KI EARNS GREENGUARD CERTIFICATION FOR 15 LOUNGE SEATING PRODUCTS

GREEN BAY, WIS. —KI’s latest furniture to earn GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification brings its number of GREENGUARD Certified collections to 93. The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) recently awarded this certification to 10 collections and five pieces from KI’s lounge seating category.
“The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute applauds KI on its continued commitment to furthering our mission of improving indoor air quality,” said Dr. Marilyn Black, founder, GEI. “Products such as lounge seating are certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute so that consumers can be assured that the products they buy are healthy for their indoor environments.”
GREENGUARD Certification is a referenced standard for furniture and other interior product manufacturers specified in projects based on the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Rating System. LEED is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® furniture earns points toward projects receiving certification under the LEED for Commercial Interiors, LEED for New Construction, LEED for Core & Shell, LEED for Existing Building and LEED Canada for Commercial Interiors programs.

To achieve GREENGUARD Certification, each product must pass a series of demanding tests required by GEI that confirms the product has low chemical emissions, which promotes better indoor air quality. GEI monitors these products each quarter to ensure they maintain low-emitting status.
GEI’s methodology for testing and certifying furniture was developed and validated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Technology Verification Program. The most realistic, worst-case configurations of a product’s components and materials are developed and placed in the environmental testing chambers.
GEI is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that oversees the GREENGUARD Certification ProgramSM.
