KI’S GENIUS ARCHITECTURAL WALLS WINS PRODUCT INNOVATIONS AWARD FOR WORKPLACE FLEXIBILITY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 2, 2008

GREEN BAY, WIS.–
Buildings magazine has selected KI’s Genius® architectural walls as a winner in its annual Product Innovations Awards. Marking the product’s fourth industry award, Genius walls earned a Citation of Excellence in the category of Workplace Flexibility. The list of award recipients will appear in the October issue.

“The acoustical properties, low life-cycle costs, and maximum flexibility of Genius architectural walls make it a great fit for spaces that require something extra, it’s privacy in an open plan or the flexibility to create fully functional workspaces in a snap,” says Jenna Aker, new products editor, Buildings.

Genius walls accommodate the change, expansion and mobility typical of today’s work environments, without foregoing structural integrity or aesthetics. The flexibility of Genius walls also supports technology requirements. Removable panel shells provide easy access to power and data by routing wires and cables through the floor, ceiling or adjacent panels.

“We designed Genius walls with maximum versatility that allows us to offer the greatest degree of customization and continually add new features to our wall solutions,” said Rob Wittl, general manager, architectural walls, KI. “We regularly make enhancements to the line based on actual customer requests, helping us ensure that Genius walls play a key role in establishing the best workspaces for any facility.”

Genius walls have received a number of industry awards for flexibility, functionality and design. Past honors include a Best of NeoCon® Gold Award, Design Journal’s Best of Show NeoCon® Award, and a Building’s Editor’s Pick Award.

The modular components within the Genius line allow designers and facility managers to develop a customized, seamless solution. Virtually unlimited aesthetic options make it easy for designers to create signature storefronts, private offices, conference rooms, dividing walls and other applications.

With just four to five basic parts required, fewer than any other wall product, Genius walls make for quick installation with minimal disruption. Ease of installation also contributes to lower lifecycle costs for movable walls over drywall.

The environmental advantages of movable walls serve as another key to their popularity. Genius walls have earned GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification® for low emitting products by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. Made with more than 70 percent recycled aluminum, Genius walls are 99 percent reusable and 96 percent recyclable.

To optimize acoustics, Genius walls’ 3.5” thickness and 22-gauge steel shells for density enable a Sound Transmission Rating (STC) of 44-48. With one of the highest STC ratings of comparable wall products, Genius walls provide more acoustical privacy than standard drywall.

Frames for Genius walls come in anodized aluminum, wood veneer or powdercoat paint. Finishes include panels in glass, fabric, vinyl, wood veneer, writable/erasable surfaces and powdercoat paint.
