KI PROVIDES CUSTOM FURNITURE SOLUTIONS FOR CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION CENTERS IN OHIO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 2, 2007

GREEN BAY, WIS. – KI has been chosen to provide Career and Technology Education Centers (C-TEC) with an entire suite of furniture for its new Licking County, Ohio facility. C-TEC is an educational resource for high school students, adult learners and businesses for more than 30 years.

“Given the range of constituents we serve and services C-TEC provides, we had a lengthy list of requirements that needed to be met as we evaluated furniture providers,” said Rick Orr, facilities manager, C-TEC. “Criteria for furniture included durability, design, style, ergonomic, and green building considerations, backed by the company’s ability to furnish all rooms, work through our local dealer, customize its offerings, and stay within our budget. KI fit the bill perfectly.”

KI furniture was placed in classrooms, computer labs, office and administrative spaces, a lounge area, and the cafeteria. To create a comfortable learning experience in the classroom, KI provided C-TEC with Torsion® seating because of its flex backs and easy mobility. A 120° degree configuration of the WireWorks® panel system was used to create an open computer lab.

For the new building’s LEED certification, the use of powder coated finishes, recyclable fabrics, reduced formaldehyde, and other environmentally sound attributes of KI’s furniture was important. True® desking solutions—freestanding systems that accommodate corner work surfaces, peninsula ends and conference ends— were customized to meet C-TEC’s specific requests for classroom and office settings.

“We were impressed with KI’s willingness and ability to modify its standard products based on our directions,” said Orr. “KI’s professionals provided valuable assistance from the beginning of the project through to completion. They put furniture items into the building plans early in the process so we could see how the layout would come together, which also made for an efficient installation process. We appreciated working in partnership with KI to make this project work so well.”
